My first administration role was within the National Probation Service. Initially I started as an administrator to a team of eight Probation Officers and while my job title was 'Administrator', I very quickly found myself developing the role of a Personal Assistant to these eight Probation officers. I enjoyed going above and beyond the basic admin tasks and enjoyed immersing myself into their work which enabled me to help them out and lighten their workload.
My work ethic was quickly noticed within the Probation Service and I was soon promoted to Personal Assistant to the Chief Probation Officer. My first PA role! Now this is really where my plate spinning skills were honed 😂 I had never seen a diary this busy and I was thrown right into the deep end with a handover of one week from the previous PA, but sometimes, this is the best way to learn and I’m a firm believer of rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in. I pride myself on being a great person to work with. Reliable, hard-working, dedicated, but also good fun. A number of my colleagues at Probation have been kind enough to provide me with testimonials that you’ll see throughout the site.
After the Probation Service came SSE. At this time SSE was a huge FTSE 100 company and the second biggest energy supplier in the UK, a very different working environment to that of the public service and Probation. I joined as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Retail Transformation who was responsible for the enormous program of smart meters being installed across the country. The pace, deadline pressures and pure attention to detail within this role was second to none. Again, a number of individuals that I worked with at SSE have been kind enough to provide me testimonials. Are you seeing a pattern here?
Now to my current role, an Executive Assistant to a CEO of a healthcare company. It’s within this role that I have seen my professional development and skill set sky rocket. My CEO, who is the greatest mentor I could wish to have, quickly realised that I had a lot more to give than just traditional Executive Assistant work and it’s here that I started working on the marketing branding and the strategic plan for the business alongside the CEO.
So why is she looking to become a Virtual Assistant when she loves her current job so much? I hear you cry! Well like many of you reading this, I have a desire to be a business owner. I have a desire to take a plan in my head and make it a reality. A plan to be my own boss. A desire to extend my knowledge and skills to more than just one company at a time. I’m taking on this Virtual Assistant work with the full blessing of my current employer and while he is scared he will lose me to this new venture full time eventually (his words) he doesn’t want to hold me back. And guess what? Of course there’s a couple of testimonials from colleagues that I work with now, including the CEO.
Do you like what you read? Think that I could be a missing part of your business? Help you take that next step? Have a look around the website and see the kind of services and rates that I offer. Don’t see something you’re looking for? Please don’t let this stop you reaching out and having an initial conversation with me about how we could work together.
So a little bit about me I live in Portsmouth on the south coast of the UK with my little Cavapoo, Marley (that’s her in the pic). At the weekends, you’ll usually find the pair of us going for lovely walks along the beach or the woods.
I’m a bit of a geek for the city of Portsmouth, My home city. I love the history and everything about the place and I love living close to the sea.
I'm a huge football fan and a supporter of you guessed it, Portsmouth Football Club.
I’m also a big foodie. I love nothing more than going out for a nice meal, spending time with friends and loved ones.
I think it’s important to tell you a little bit about me as a person as hiring a Virtual Assistant is so much more than just hiring an admin. It’s got to be someone that you click with, that you have a good working relationship with.
Have a little look at my 'Oh she's good!' page, where a number of colleagues, both past and present, have been kind enough to provide testimonies on me as a person and a colleague.
Thank you for reading, Tash
